July 2008, Alekos Fasianos

Alekos Fasianos is one of the most important artists-painters of Greece's contemporary visual arts scene in the
second half of the twentieth century. He trained in music but majored in painting at the School of Fine Arts of the National Technical University of Athens (1956-1960), Yannis Moralis serving as his chief instructor.

Alekos Fasianos enjoyed a succession of international shows in Athens, Hamburg, Japan, Milan, Munich,
Paris, Stockholm, United States etc.
National Greek Gallery director Marina Lambraki-Plaka said Fasianos' work is characterized by a
"two-way relationship between extreme innovation and Greek modernism, with elements of Theophilos,
Tsarouchis, ancient art and modernism".

We would like to thank very much Mr Alekos Fasianos who kindly agreed in this dedication of Radio Art
and king permited to us to use some of his works.
All works which are illustrated in the banner of Radio Art are created by him.

… I was never interested in raw materials, I have always considered raw materials as a piece of wood that you
could whittle and make a small boat or a stone that you could sculpt, while others were only interested in raw
materials in order to build houses or to create other things in order for them to get rich. All these years
I have
realized that it is not the raw materials that will help you and all the effort that you will put in it, but the morals
and the spirit to reach something…

…Happiness is the daily effort that you put in doing something…

…I have very well realized that if you do nothing in life that will help you create things or understand your existence then there is no happiness. Happiness is the moment that you create something or you think or you write or you do nothing, but still this allows you to get to know yourself better…

…As we move forward the whole myth is gone and everything turns into technology and science…

But you need the myth in order to move forward and to face modern life. And in the end, when the earth will be created all over again, maybe things will be created again due to another explosion. Maybe the seeds and the memories of the old myth will be part of the new myth that will be created…the myth of eternity…
